We're back!

Every week (just about) the contributors to The Irrelevant will share the one thing we've been into this week. It can be a movie, a book, a song, an album, some youtube video, a random meme, or twitter user, anything that's been taking up more space in our mind than it should. We want to share this with you because we like sharing things we're into. Also these are perfect things that you can consume over the weekend, so here they are:

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

According to my iPhone over the last seventy two hours I have spent sixteen and half hours playing Nintendo’s Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. Minus sixteen hours for sleeping and at least six for traffic around a third of my time has been sunk into this addicting cute little world. I’m not proud of this but I’m also not ready to ask for help. I assume I’ll write more about this because of how much it has taken over my life, for now though I was only able to commit a small amount of time because if I don’t deliver these fruits and fish who will?

Nintendo’s mobile version of one of their quirkiest franchises really shines on this platform. The game turns you into a virtual Task Rabbit collecting items for adorable humanoid animals that will become your friends and give you gifts for a campsite you have been put in charge of. If that doesn’t seem fun to you I don’t blame you but it has completely bewitched me, I wish I were playing right now. I am slowly learning if my work ethic was as good as my virtual self I’d probably be better at a lot of aspects of my life but here I am, jonesing for a video game. The delightful environment of the original games comes across really well and jumping in and out the game throughout the day has had a fantastic effect on my general disposition. Eventually the honeymoon phase will pass I’m sure and I will lose interest as I seem to with every trendy mobile game, but for now only a week later I am still enjoying it. So yea I’m going to go back to my recording studio themed camp site and hang out with my cool new virtual friends who I totally have not crafted fake narratives about.

The World Cup

It's December 1st and the stage for the best sporting event in the planet (PLEASE @ me) is set! The World Cup Draw took place TODAY and it completely shattered any productivity I could potentially have had this morning. The groups are set as follows:

Look at those groups! Look at the sham of a group Group A is! I'm sure there was no tampering there. Look at the Nigera/Argentina pairing that is a fixture in just about every World Cup at every level. Look at Group B where Portugal, Spain, an Morocco are literally a boat trip away from each other. Look at Group G where England will find a way to lose out to Tunisia OR Panama OR Both! And Finally look at Group F where the perennial Thanos of the Soccer world, Germany is set to destroy all my hopes and dreams and destroy Mexico with a might never witnessed before. Any way you look at this, the World Cup will be great.

June can't get here soon enough!
